I had a great talk with Cathy last night. During the call I discovered that the Ironman bike distance is actually 180km. I nearly choked. For some reason I thought it was near the 100 km distance (which I figured was do-able). I am not swayed yet.
I ran 9 km's yesterday with my running room group. We had a good time. I ran with Lynn as we both wanted to go out with the 2:30 half pace group. It was a good decision, allowing us to be out for a longer time (burn more calories!) and take it nice and easy. We talked about gear and nutrition and we sprinted it in when we got back to Kinsmen.
Tomorrow is my run with Cindy's group. Lynn and Deb should be there - possibly Doug if he isn't tapering now for his Marathon in Vegas. I'm looking forward to it but I do know we will either run Emily Murphy or Victoria Hill in whichever loop we decide.
My upcoming race goals are: Hypothermic Half in Calgary (Feb) and Hypothermic Half in Edmonton (March). I'm aiming to complete the Calgary race in under 2:30 and the Edmonton race - just complete. I will be running in Edmonton with my friend Deb - mostly to support her.
