absence

Well.

Where to start.

I was supposed to do my second 18 km run on Sunday. It did not happen. Saturday my 4 year old boy was sick. He has asthma and the only trigger so far seems to be viruses. Well, we were up all night with him, giving him treatments and hoping we wouldn't have to go to the hospital. He was doing much better on Sunday morning but I wasn't.

I was too tired and didn't want to run tired.

Monday rolled around and I stayed home with him.

Tuesday I went for a run at lunch at work. I averaged a 6:30 pace and went for about 7 km. I think I needed to shake some inactivity out of my system. I was silly going all the way down to kinsmen and then back on the LRT bridge realizing I was going to have to climb back out of the valley to get back to the office. Well up the hill behind Royal Glenora took all my energy and I still had to climb the 106 street hill.

It was very warm out. I could have been running in shorts and a tshirt.

Wednesday (last night) I went to the tri club swim practice. I'll make it short and sweet: I suck at swimming.

Tonight is my clinic. I am feeling sort of burned out on running. I think this might be a normal feeling so close to the goal race day but I can't seem to shake it.

It's tempo run tonight and then I might either a) go for a run with the clinic that runs after or b) go to the swim practice again tonight.

My 2 year old is now sick too. I was up with him all night - he had a burning fever and wanted to be rocked for hours. Let's hope I don't get sick too now!

Saturday is the long swim and Sunday is 20KM LSD. Whew.

I find training for running races really burns me out too. I think you may be doing too much-trying to keep up with the clinic schedule of 3 times a week plus swimming. Last year I did my first half marathon after 3 triathlons and trained for the entire thing only running twice a week. Try to bike once and swim once but the swim falls off the schedule regularly. I know you're close to your race and it's time to taper after Sunday so it will be over soon but you could try dropping a run-it won't affect your race.
