So when I said I would "go for a nice run after I drop off the kids at daycare" I didn't intend for it to be HOTTER outside than the day before.
I set out at 11:30 with good intentions. I usually have a choice on Wednesdays to do an 8K loop or a 5K loop. The 8K loop goes up Emily Murphy Hill and the 5K loop goes up some stairs. While running down Victoria Park Hill at a great pace - feeling fine (hot weather "eat my shorts!") I decided I would try the 8K loop.
Sure thing.
Until I got to the bottom of the hill - 2KM's into the run and all of a sudden - overheating and feeling light headed. The pollen started blowing off the trees in clouds and I couldn't breath properly so I decided to walk up the hill. I did.
Got up and still. Didn't feel good. My mind starts going "suck it up, Princess, the GWN could be this hot - what are you going to do then??" but my body (not really my cardio or my muscles - just feeling tired from the heat?) wasn't responding.
So - out of the 8KM distance I believe I ran only about 4. I got into the office and was as red as a tomato.
Oh well.
I went to swim practice later and all went well. Working on distance per stroke and trying to get in the 40's consistently for my 100's.
Felt like the coach was going a little easy on us... next time I'd like less chit chat and more swimming but I guess it's ok to take it easy every once in a while.
Tonight is the clinic run (4K tempo) and then I'm trying out a fancy red triathlon bike that's for sale.... OHHHHHHHHHH I WANT IT!!!!

Sounds like all of your work in the water is really paying off. That's good since it's a weak event for a lot of people.
