I am making this update way late - too far from Coronation to feel the excitement and pride of having a great race and too close to Great White North to do anything other than start panicking and second guessing myself.
I will start with Coronation - which was fabulous despite poor organization. I - was well organized - so that made a huge difference. Kerry told me to bring my transition gear in a box and I did just that and laid it all out according to my plan beside my bike before getting marked and ready for my swim.
The swim felt incredible. For some reason I was really able to relax and never felt out of breath. I did not kick at all hardly - as I had decided early on to use this strategy to keep my legs feeling good. This is thanks to my friend Eric who has now completed two Ironman competitions and told me he hardly kicks in the water.
Coming out of the water and into T1 was fun. I liked running to my bike and getting everything on. I forgot to pull my longsleeve shirt on until after I had put on my helmet - but luckily it fit overtop. Otherwise that could have been quite comical.
The bike was up and down Groat Hill and was fun. I wanted to stay ahead of some of the people in the MB division and I managed to pass one girl - I wondered if she was in my age group.
T2 was fun too but I was starting to feel a little fatigue in my calves as I started out on the run. I had my gel with me and sipped on that the whole way down Groat Hill hoping to have some kick on the way up.
I came in around 2:30 and I was very happy with my time. I came in 3rd in my age group in the MB division and even got a bronze medal (picked it up yesterday).
now.... when it comes to the next big thing, the biggest of all big things, the GREAT WHITE NORTH.....
What can I say? I feel hugely underprepared. My training plan seems like too much too late;
This weekend is the MS Tour and I'll be riding my longest rides before GWN and my longest rides ever.
My run mileage is comfortably up to 16K
I have never swam in OPEN WATER but I have planned a weekend of it on June 17th.
What in the world can I do but trust that I will be able to finish? This weekend will be a huge test of my biking. I just noticed yesterday on a ride that my bike was rattling a little so I need to find out what is going on since it was JUST serviced ARRRRRGHHHHHH.

hey jordan, it's way better to open water swim at allen beach with other people, there's usually a huge group on fridays, and we've got a bunch doing mondays too
