It's March 2008 and I'm finally ready to get back at it. I've gained a lot of weight since I stopped training after GWN 2006. Had I not given up then I may be staring down IMC this year but I'm not and first thing's first:
I forgive myself.
Now, it's all about losing weight - how am I doing it? Well I'm in week 5 of the Body for Life program. I am weight training 3x per week and starting to get my running base up again. Right now I'm able to run for 45 minutes on the treadmill. I don't run fast and I don't run far but I'll get back to that in a while. For now it's just finding my footing again.
I am 40lbs over what I want to compete at.
5 weeks ago it was 50 lbs over what I want to compete at so - progress is being made.
Deep breath.
I have also hired a coach - Julie from Spruce Grove and I'm logging all of my training and reporting to her. I don't regret it at all...
So, my current goals are:
1. Continue on BFL until mid-April (hoping for another 15 lbs of weight loss by then).
2. Do my best at two events this month: St Patrick's 5K and ATA aqua-thon. No time expectations, just completion and smiling.
3. Finish either the Red Deer or the Vancouver Half Marathon with a goal of 2:20.
4. Coronation (maybe).
5. Great White North - under 7:30 this year
6. Sylvan Lake Half IM - it's a tough course so I'm just looking to have fun and finish and celebrate my accomplishments.
Wow, that's a lot for now.
:)
