Something that keeps recurring for me, a story about two men travelling (monks). They come to a river crossing where a young woman asks them to help her cross. They do, but she is rude to them and never thanks them.
A while later down the road the older of the two men says to the younger "you seem very upset - what is troubling you?" The man replies "that woman who we helped cross the river was rude to us and ungrateful".
The older man replied: "I put that woman down along time ago - why are you still carrying her?"
Quote from another source on this story:
"Mental attachment to an idea or experience blocks the full experience of the here and now. Attachments slow the mind, interfering with appropriate responses to the immediate situation"
Who or what are you carrying with you? Can you put them down? Can *I* move forward with clear mind. Maybe. It's what I'm working on.
